Faces !

I cringe at the thought of doing a portrait ! It’s definitly one of my weakest areas when it comes to drawing ! I do however feel the need to challenge that every so often and I’m finding that some of my students seem to be developing the very same fear ! I decided this week to work on faces – just thinking about depth and positioning of features ! We looked at measuring where everything goes and also using warm and cool tones to give depth to the faces. We worked with crayon, watercolours and oil pastel. I was encouraging them to be loose and and not get bogged down by “mistakes” and to work with them – I think they all turned really well !
