A Virtual Christmas Market during challenging times.
A couple of months ago I was hit with the reality that I probably won’t be able to trade anywhere this holiday season other than online. I miss my face to face customers, and am missing my classes, and just people in general. I can’t wait to be back singing with my choir and going to shows, and I’m dreaming of the gathering of people I love and miss.
Adapting to new ways of doing things has been key to many peoples successes this year and thinking outside the box seems to be the way forward. So with ‘Gifted’ and ‘Art Source’ and a bunch of Christmas Markets that I do cancelled, along with my solo show ‘Wildflowers’, (which has been postponed to February 2021), I have to navigate the season in new ways .
I’m so missing my customers and the buzz around Christmas trading, so in a quest to find a solution , I participated in an online ‘Virtual Christmas Market’ organised by www.republicofspace.ie, who are campaigning for proper market and cultural spaces within our city. It was fantastic , albeit strange, to meet customers face to face through a screen.
I set it up in my house just like my market stall and it was great fun, only took a few minutes to get used to it and it worked a treat ! The official Republic of Space market link can be found here, and that will take place with 10 other traders on Sunday Nov 22nd at 1-4pm.
In addition to this, I’ll be hosting my own virtual market via Zoom, interested parties will receive the Zoom meeting link to log on at any point and come, have a browse and a chat . The initial dates for this are Friday 20th/27th ( Black Friday ! ) Im deciding to call it ‘Pink Friday’ All transactions will be done remotely ( and privately) and collection and delivery will be organised ! Im hoping everyone will step up and support local business on Black Friday this year ! There has been a huge drive to spend local this year and its great to see !

Im also so excited to announce that I have ordered gorgeous notebook and diaries from Badly Made Books, they are a really cool and sustainable Irish Brand. The books are 80% recycled materials and I can’t wait to have them ! I also have 3 brand new Limited Edition Prints that are super colourful and joyful, they come in 4 sizes and will be a welcome addition to any modern and contemporary interiors. What a strange year it has been , I for one will be so happy to see the end of Covid 19, and all the curveballs it brought ! Let’s hope the solution is here before we know it ! Happy Christmas Shopping and don’t forget to Support Local.
